How we work

Editorial policy

How we research, write, review and correct our advice — and the rules we hold ourselves to.

Last updated 6 October 2026

Our standards

  • Answer first. Every guide opens with a direct answer, then explains the reasoning and the trade-offs.
  • Reliable sources. Facts are checked against official, academic or otherwise authoritative sources, which we list where they matter.
  • Plain language. We write for a general reader and explain any term we have to use.
  • Know the limits. Health, money and legal guides say clearly when you need a professional.
  • Dated and maintained. Every guide shows when it was published and last updated, and we revise guides when facts change.

Specialist review

Where a guide covers health, finance, law or safety, we aim to have it reviewed by someone qualified in that field. When that has happened, the reviewer is named on the article.

How we use AI

We use AI tools to help with research, drafting, translation and producing short videos and audio. We follow three rules:

  1. A person is accountable for every word. AI-assisted drafts are fact-checked and edited by our editorial desk before publication.
  2. AI presenters are always labelled. Some quick tips are presented by AI characters. They are marked “AI presenter” wherever they appear, and are never presented as real people.
  3. No invented experience. We do not publish reviews, testimonials or personal experiences that did not happen.

Independence, advertising and partners

Our advice is not for sale. Advertisers and partners have no say over what we recommend. The site may show advertising, which is always separated from editorial content and labelled “Advertisement”. If a guide ever contains a sponsored mention or an affiliate link, it is disclosed clearly on that page.

Creators and influencers may recommend our guides. They are not paid to endorse specific advice, and their recommendations do not change what we publish.

Corrections

If you spot an error, please tell us through the contact page. We correct factual errors promptly, and update the “last updated” date on the article when we do.
